SMIT Bracket, also known as towing bracket, mooring bracket, is a commonly used marine mooring device welded to the deck. It is made of high grade alloy steel and can withstand loads from 450KN to 4000KN for chain sizes from 28mm to 132mm. The surface is coated with anti-rust primer for good corrosion resistance.
As part of the emergency traction system, the SMIT bracket enables quick connection of a chafing chain link, fitted to FPSO, rigs and other vessels. The bracket works with a large sliding pin, which can quickly lock and release the anchor chain.
Smit bracket is a simple but ultimately effective design. It is designed and specified to withstand the expected breaking load of the chain used, suitable for traction operations, and can be provided in a traction system package or as a stand-alone product. Brackets are useful points of rigging used to connect mooring lines/tow chains for offshore debugging, heading control, and towing operations.

The bracket works with a large sliding pin that receives the tow chain and locks the chain into place quickly and securely.
