Stud Link Chain is a common marine anchor chain, which is mainly made of hot-rolled anchor steel or stainless steel, with diameters ranging from 2.5mm to 122mm. It can also be cut to size as required. The surface is usually coated with black asphalt, and hot-dip galvanized finishes are also available (surface treatment can be provided on demand). The standard length of each stud link chain is 27.5m, and each length is marked with a unique identification number on the end link for purposes of traceability. It can also be provided according to the specific requirements of customers.
The stud link chain has a center pin inside the link to increase strength and prevent possible link elongation, twisting and provide additional weight. It has many different material grades, among which the grade 2 and 3 stud link chains are the most commonly used anchor chain in commercial shipping. Their difference lies in the additional heat treatment process after the chain is manufactured.
Boomarine is a professional marine equipment supplier. The stud link chains we provide are produced in accordance with ISO 1704 standards, and are mainly used as anchor chains for ships or permanent mooring systems or ground chains in mooring systems. In addition, all the stud link chains we provide have DNV, GL, ABS, LRS, RINA, BV, NK, KR, IRS, RS and other major classification society certificates. And we can also equip corresponding chain fittings according to demand. If you have any needs, please feel free to contact us.
Features of Stud Link Chain:
- It is strong enough and has a stud across its middle which gives the extra rigidity.
- High strength, sufficient toughness, greater self-weight makes it more carrying capacity.
- The inboard end of the chain cables can be secured to the ship’s structure enable an easy slipping of the chain cables to sea.
- Studlink chains are available in black (tarred), galvanized and stainless steel.

How to Determine Chain Link Size For Your Ship?
Common Link
6 x Chain Diameter = Length
(eg. 1” Chain = 6” length)
Enlarged Link
6.6 x Chain Diameter = Length
End Link
6.75 x Chain Diameter = Length
